24/7 Emergency Electrician in Hendricks County

A burning smell from the panel, an outlet that sparked, half the house dark, a service line pulled off the wall by a storm. The phone is answered around the clock, and the first thing we do is tell you what to shut off.

If there is fire, call 911 first. Then call us.

An electrical emergency is any situation where there is a risk of fire or shock right now: exposed or arcing wires, smoke or a burning smell from an outlet, switch, panel or appliance, a sudden loss of power to the house, a breaker or main that is hot to the touch, or water where the electricity is. These are the calls we take at 2am, and the hours on the Google listing say open 24 hours because they are.

Call any hour for these

  • Burning or fishy smell from an outlet, switch or the panel
  • Sparks, arcing or a popping sound from any device or the panel
  • Outlets, switches or the panel cover warm or hot to the touch
  • The main breaker tripped and will not reset, or the house is dark and the neighbors are not
  • A storm pulled the service mast or meter off the house, or a tree took the line down
  • Water in the basement near the panel, or flooding around outlets
  • Someone got a shock from a faucet, an appliance or a switch
  • Lights surging bright and dim across the whole house at once

What to do while we are on the way

  1. Flames or heavy smoke: get out and call 911. Do not try to fight an electrical fire with water. We come after the fire department clears the scene.
  2. Something smells hot or sparked: turn off the breaker for that room. If you are not sure which one, turn off the main breaker. Do not use the outlet or device again until it is checked.
  3. A hot panel or a main that will not reset: leave the cover on, keep people away from it, and do not keep trying to reset it. Repeated resets into a fault are how panels burn.
  4. A downed line or a mast pulled off the house: stay away from the line and anything it is touching, including the fence and the puddles. Call the utility to kill the line, then us to rebuild the service.
  5. Water near electricity: do not walk into standing water in a room with live outlets or a panel. Kill the main if you can reach it safely from dry ground; otherwise wait for us.
  6. A shock from a faucet or appliance: stop using it, turn off its breaker if you can identify it, and call. That is usually a lost ground or a lost neutral and it is dangerous.

Storm damage and power restoration

After the ice storms and summer straight-line winds that hit central Indiana, the most common call is a service mast or meter base torn off the house. The utility will not reconnect until the homeowner's side is repaired and inspected. We rebuild the mast, the weatherhead and the meter base, get the emergency inspection, and coordinate the utility reconnect, usually within a day of the call. Partial power, where half the house is dark or the lights surge, is often a lost neutral or one leg of the service down, and it can damage appliances if it runs long, so it is an emergency call too.

What an emergency visit looks like

We make it safe first: isolate the fault, shut off what needs to be shut off, and stop the risk. Then we tell you what happened and what the permanent fix is. If the permanent repair is small and the parts are on the van, it gets done on the spot. If it is a panel replacement or a service rebuild, you get a plan and a price that night and the work scheduled first thing.

Emergency coverage by area

Emergency calls get the fastest response inside Hendricks County: Avon, Danville, Plainfield and Brownsburg. We also run to Mooresville, Zionsville and the rest of the ten-county area; tell us where you are and we will give you an honest arrival window.

Emergency service questions

We quote the emergency visit before we roll, so you know the number before you say yes. After-hours work is priced as after-hours work, and we tell you that on the phone rather than on the invoice.

If the whole street is dark, it is the utility, and their outage line is the call to make. If your house is dark and the neighbors have power, check the main breaker. If it is on, or trips again when reset, or the meter looks damaged, the problem is on your side and that is us.

It is a fault, and repeatedly resetting into it is the risk. Leave it off. If it is one circuit and nothing smells hot, it can usually wait for a next-day repair visit. If it is the main, or the panel is warm, or there is any smell, call now.

Yes. A restaurant with a dead walk-in, a shop with no power on a Saturday, a property manager with a dark common area. Same number, same response.

After the emergency

Do not wait on a form for an emergency. Call.

The form below is for anything that can wait until business hours. For smoke, sparks, a hot panel or a dead main, the phone is the fastest path.
